Galatians 22-23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
The first day of school is exciting and a little nerve-racking. It’s a time for new beginnings and it can also be a fresh start for a new way of thinking and a new way of acting.
This verse in Galatians is so powerful; it’s packed with so much inspiration and guidance. As you start your first day of school think about bringing love into someone’s life, being the joy in someone’s life, being the peace in someone’s life, and being the kindness in someone’s life.
You can also use this time as a new way of thinking overall. In everything you do, whether it’s inviting a new friend to sit with you at lunch or are about to take a math test, incorporate the Fruit of the Spirit into your activities.
Be gentle with those around you, remember that everyone, whether they’re saved or not, is important to God. He honors your actions towards others.
God will never steer you wrong, and neither will His word. Make a list of these characteristics in your agenda/planner and read them before you start each school day. When you have a conscious awareness of what your goal is you’re more likely to succeed in it. Think of the first few weeks of school as your reset button and use Galatians 5:22-23 as your spring board to start each day.
As for the nerve-racking part, remember what Paul said to the Philippians, “Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done” (Philippians4:6). PRAY about EVERYTHING! It doesn’t matter how small you think the problem is, God is right by your side to get you through it. Remember, if God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.
Our prayer for you is that God would give you the strength and power to live as His children in school, on the bus, on the field, or wherever else your school experience takes you. Have faith in God and you’ll be amazed at the works He’ll do in you!
